Five hundred high school students from four districts will have a unique chance to plan for their future at Perham High School on Dec. 11.
“Dream it. Do it!” is the theme for the Second Annual Job and Career Fair at PHS. While the event will be held in Perham, juniors and seniors from Battle Lake, New York Mills and Wadena will also be in attendance.
The students will go to six informational sessions throughout the day, explained High School Principal Ehren Zimmerman at November’s school board meeting. They will also have a break for lunch.
Fred Sailer, an organizer for the event, said that Arvig, Kit Masters, Perham Health, Hammer’s Construction, KLN Family Brands and other local employers will have booths at the fair.
Colleges represented will include North Dakota State University, Concordia College, Minnesota State University in Moorhead, M State, Alexandria Technical College and Mayville State University, said Angie Aakre, an event organizer and school counselor.
Speakers will include Superintendent Blaine Novak from the New York Mills School District and Perham graduate Corey Hepola.
During the opening session, Charlie Nelson will present Kenny Nelson’s 2013 Ernst and Young Award for the family business category of the upper Midwest region.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the employer and college booths from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. The represented companies and colleges will be accepting resumes and applications at that time.
