Drugs charges for Wadena man who crashed vehicle in Otter Tail County
A Wadena man who crashed his vehicle in Otter Tail County is facing two felony drug charges.
Richard Strubbe is facing two felony drug charges following the alleged discovery of 101 grams of marijuana in his possession.
Otter Tail County Sheriff's deputies and Wadena law enforcement officials responded to the scene of a crash near 285th Street along Hwy 75 around 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 16.
When deputies arrived, they interviewed the driver of the vehicle, who said he and Strubbe had been drinking at a nearby bar. The driver said Strubbe was in no shape to drive, and a decision was made for the driver, who had also been drinking, to take the wheel. The driver alleged that Strubbe grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it to the right, causing the car to crash, according to court documents.
Deputies on the scene cited numerous empty beer cans and a bottle of rum found near the crashed vehicle. A deputy also discovered a bag of marijuana, which later weighed in at 101 grams.
Both the driver and Strubbe were transported to the emergency room.
On Feb. 22, a deputy questioned Strubbe about the marijuana. According to court documents, Strubbe admitted the drugs belonged to him.
