Ellie Rutten recorded her 1,000th point as a sophomore this season leading the Eagles to an impressive run through the Section 6A playoffs pulling off two upsets over Norman County West in Halstad and Lake Park-Audubon at Concordia College in the Subsection semifinals before losing to the eventual Section 6A champions Ada-Borup in the Subsection final.

The Eagles impressive finish came after a seeding of No. 6 on the back of a 9-13 regular season. New York Mills came together at the right time and made a run that was not matched in the Class A girls basketball playoffs.

The other half of 6A was decided between the top two seeds Parkers Prairie and Underwood. In all of Class A, the sixth-seeded Eagles were the lowest seed to reach a Subsection final. Section 4’s Christ’s Household of Faith was the only other team lower than a three-seed to do so. The Lions were a five-seed.

The coaching staff would like to thank all of the girls for their hard work and commitment throughout the season. A special thanks also goes out to all of the parents for their help and support, the Junior High and elementary coaches for their work with our younger athletes, the various NY Mills staff that helped with tournaments and banquets, as well as some of the past Eagle players who helped out in practices.
