Entrepreneurs--of all kinds--invited to open house
The Business & Entrepreneurial Services at Minnesota State Community & Technical
College, Detroit Lakes, is having a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to
celebrate its progress and development.
The mission of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Business &
Entrepreneurial Services is to discover and develop the talents of individuals in order to
enhance business and community through the creation and development of academic,
research, outreach, and support initiatives that encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship
and support entrepreneurs of all ages.
The vision of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Business &
Entrepreneurial Services is to enhance, educate and empower entrepreneurs
throughout the state of Minnesota.
Research shows there are several avenues for young students to take in regards to
their professional career goals. Current trends are for students to graduate high school,
get a degree, and work for a larger corporation. There is little for students who have the
calling to work for themselves or create a business structure of their own. Research
also shows there is a trend for baby boomers and retirees to want to start a business.
The Business & Entrepreneurial Services has a resource center and computer kiosks
for research availability. Speaker Series are held the first Friday of every other month.
Speakers are entrepreneurs, business owners, or experts to help with both. There is
also an AAS degree in Business Entrepreneurship at MSCTC-DL.
The future of the Business &Entrepreneurial Services is to have incubators where
businesses can start and grow. Business plans will be submitted and reviewed for the
prospective incubator businesses next year.
The public is invited to attend the Grand Opening and learn about the Business &
Entrepreneurial Services as well as the future plans for incubators. This will be held on
Monday, November 17, at 1:00 p.m., at MSCTC-DL, Business & Entrepreneurial
