Entries sought for Minnesota Farm Bureau Excellence contest
The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Excellence in Agriculture contest deadline is September 15.
The Excellence in Agriculture contest is designed as an opportunity for young farmers and ranchers to earn recognition while actively contributing to the agriculture industry and building their leadership skills through their involvement in Farm Bureau and their community.
The Excellence in Agriculture contest spotlights young Farm Bureau members who are agricultural enthusiasts but have not earned a majority of their income from an owned production agriculture enterprise in the past three years.
Competitors are evaluated on their understanding of agricultural issues, leadership experiences and achievement. Interviews will take place on November 20, at the Northland Inn, in Brooklyn Park. In order to be eligible, contestants must be ages 18-35.
State winners in each contest will receive $500 plus an expense-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, January 9-12, 2011.
Once there, state winners will compete for the national title and several prizes. State winners also earn a trip to the MFBF YF&R Leadership Conference, January 28-30, 2011 in Duluth and will have the opportunity to take part in the 2011 MFBF Young Farmers Washington, D. C trip.
