Expanding the signal; A Better Wireless to offer service in parts of Perham
Within three weeks, Perham may have another Internet provider.
If all goes as planned, A Better Wireless of Henning will have installed an antenna with capabilities to offer wireless Internet service to customers here in town.
The company is currently installing an antenna on top of a radio tower about four miles outside of New York Mills, along Highway 10. This antenna will bring a signal to everyone within an estimated nine-mile radius, which includes most of Perham.
A Better Wireless is a family owned business, providing broadband service since 2006 in and around Henning and Deer Creek. In the past year, the company has expanded to New York Mills, and hopes to strengthen its presence in the Perham area, as well.
As part of the expansion, customers will have an opportunity to earn a year of free Internet service, a $526 value, by referring others to the company. Existing and new customers can refer six people to A Better Wireless, and when those six referrals sign up for service and stay on for three months, the customer who made the referral will receive a year's worth of service for free.
"It's a way to give back to customers," spokesperson and part owner Mitch Koep said in a phone interview.
Koep said anyone can receive a free site survey, to help determine if A Better Wireless is right for them.
