Family activities at Glendalough
This Saturday, Sept. 28, pack a lunch and head to Glendalough State Park for a fun-filled day of fall family activities.
At 10 a.m., a park naturalist will lead a casual ride of about four miles along the new Glandalough bike trail. Riders will learn about the fall changes in the prairie and forest while getting the chance to enjoy the autumn scenery. Participants should meet with their bikes, water and sunscreen at the park’s trail center.
After lunch, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., Archery in the Park will be offered at the Molly Stark picnic area. Participants may stop by any time to learn to shoot a bow from trained archery instructors. No experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided.
As always, hiking, canoeing and kayaking through the park’s chain of lakes will be available. Visitors may also check out a GPS unit and go on a geo-caching treasure hunt.
No registration is required for the programs. Kids under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Programs are free, but a state parks vehicle permit is required.
For more information, call the park at 218-864-0110.
