Fargo man arrested in assault with baton

FARGO - A Fargo man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly beat another man with a baton, a police spokesman said.

Gerald William King, 26, was charged with aggravated assault and was still in the Cass County Jail on Sunday night, according to Sgt. Shannon Ruziska and jail personnel.

King is accused of striking another Fargo man several times with a baton, though the extent of the victim's injuries was unknown, Ruziska said. The victim refused an ambulance that had been called to the scene, he said.

The incident occurred inside an apartment building at 4711 17th Ave. S. It was called in at 12:50 a.m., Ruziska said.

Ruziska said the men did not know each other.
