Farm bill plan advancing, but its future is unknown

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. – Top agriculture members of Congress can be ready with a backup farm bill quickly, but it is not clear if it will ever see the light of day.

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, a Democrat representing western Minnesota, is one of four negotiating what could be a set of new federal farm policies that he said could be honed within a week.
