Fashionable fundraiser: Catholic Daughters to host 35th annual style show
If freezing in a stand for deer hunting doesn’t sound like an ideal way to spend the weekend, the Catholic Daughters of Perham are offering another option.
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Catholic Daughters group will host its 35th annual style show, held this year at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
Fashions will be modeled from many local clothing retailers, including Nadine’s, Richter’s Menswear, Elegance, Dot and Minnie’s and more.
This year’s change in location will bring the show back to its original home, said group member Joann Winjum.
Now that the remodeling is finished at St. Henry’s, she said, the building has elevators for accessibility, a larger gathering area in the narthex and more bathroom space.
Doors for a “Harvest Tea for Two” will open at 8:30 a.m., with brunch starting at 9:30 and the show following the meal.
Of course, there will be tea, along with other treats.
Attendees are automatically entered to win door prizes, and there will be a silent auction as well. All of the items were donated by local groups and businesses.
The unique door prizes and auction packages will include:
-An embroidered tree skirt and a certificate for a fresh Christmas tree.
-A “wardrobe party,” with treats, at Nadine’s.
-A decorative flower pot, which will be filled with flowers in the spring.
Advance tickets are available for $18 from Nadine’s, the Perham Chamber of Commerce and Catholic Daughters members.
Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit organizations including the Perham Area Food Shelf, Meals on Wheels, Someplace Safe and Habitat for Humanity.
