Fergus Falls man faces new charges after allegedly trying to hire a hit man
The 65-year-old Fergus Falls man charged with murdering his nephew in Elizabeth more than a year ago is facing new charges.
Otter Tail County authorities said Friday that Michael Alan Burris is now charged with making death threats from jail and trying to hire a hit man to kill people he considers enemies, both in Fergus Falls and Arizona, where he was being held.
The new charges may be behind the delay in transporting Burris from Arizona to Minnesota to face charges for murdering his nephew, Scott Burris. Michael Alan Burris' son, Micheal Kyle Burris, is also charged in that case and has already been brought from Arizona to Minnesota. The pair is accused of shooting Scott Burris in the head and killing him over a drug debt.
The governor of Arizona has issued a warrant for Michael Alan Burris' return.
