Fergus man in court for illegal deer killing
A 24-year-old Fergus Falls man will pay $2,500 in wildlife restitution after being found guilty of killing several deer.
The defendant, whose name has not been released, said he was frustrated with deer eating his expensive cattle feed.
Court records state that between March 11 and April 4, the defendant did take and illegally possess deer during the closed season. The incidents took place along 310th Street, north of Fergus Falls.
The defendant, according to authorities, had the opportunity to work with DNR wildlife officials regarding depredation issues.
Stayed for two years was 180 days of jail time. The defendant will also be on probation for two years.
