Fire destroys house near Dent

DENT, Minn. – Fire destroyed a rural home here Saturday, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

A Sheriff’s Office report on the incident states:

The fire occurred was reported about 9 a.m. Saturday at a house owned by Timothy Dougherty.

Dougherty had a number of juveniles at the house cleaning the residence, which has been vacant for several months.

The juveniles lit a candle in one of the rooms to provide a source of light and they left it burning when they went out to the garage.

Dougherty noticed smoke coming from the room and fire was soon spreading throughout the structure.

All occupants got out of the building safely, but the house was a complete loss.
