First-ever 'town auction' set in Ottertail July 11

A community-wide auction sale will debut in Ottertail July 11

For the first time, three organizations are teaming up to raise money for Ottertail community projects.

The partners in the event are the Ottertail Lions, the Ottertail Business Association and Ottertail Rod and Gun Club. The groups are hosting the event July 11, at the Ottertail Community Center, starting with a happy hour at 4 p.m.--followed by live auction at 5 p.m.

"Everything we raise that day will go back into the community--to parks, to the proposed bike path, and other projects," said Kathy Wagenman, one of the organizers.

Playground equipment is another project the proceeds will go toward.

Dozens of items will be auctioned, by professional Tim Erp, of Erp Auctioneering.

Among the items:

---A weekend for up to eight on Otter Tail Lake, with lodging in an A-Frame cabin.

---A fishing trip on Otter Tail with guide Robert Slonekor.

---Rounds of golf at Thumper Pond.

---Browning lever action rifle.

---Autographed Vikings items.

---food and restaurant certificates

---Complete lawn irrigation system.

---Handmade Ottertail quilt and many other arts-crafts items.

---Two hours of cleaning service

---Four hours of handyman services.

---A load of asphalt

---A load of top soil

---A weekend fishing trip to Lake of the Woods.

---Numerous gift certificates from area merchants and businesses

The mid-summer date encourages both seasonal and year-round residents to participate. she noted.

Food and refreshments will be served during the event.
