Five Perham speech team members make final round at state
The Yellow Jacket Speech Team had 5 competitors advance into Final Rounds of State competition held at Gustavus College on Saturday, April 18.
In the past the top number of competitors making it into final rounds was 3, which took place last year. The final State results are as follows:
Lucas Wuebben (senior) 2nd in the State in Discussion
Nikki Werner (senoir) 5th in the State in Prose
Abby Huebsch (senior) 5th in the State in Great Speeches
Megan Shipman (senior) 7th in the State in Creative Expression
Jenna Strege (senior) 8th in the State in Drama
Competitors not making final round but placing at State include:
Whitney Delaney and Kjirsten Kroenke (juniors) 10th in the State in Duo
Kenzi Kovar (freshman) 10th in the State in Prose
Courtney Guck (junior) 11th in the State in Inform
Becca Huebsch (junior) 12th in the State in Inform
Andrew Riestenberg (sophomore) went into 3rd with good scores but was disqualified on a coaching technicality in the 3rd round.
There were 99 Class A teams represented at the tournament, conducted at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter on Saturday, April 18. There were 215 Class A teams that competed in speech statewide this year.
