According to the National Weather Service, rainfall in excess of 4 inches had fallen from east of Perham to Wadena. Runoff from this excessive rainfall caused flooding to occur in areas including New York Mills, Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Henning and others.

County Sheriff officials and spotters reported some street and highway flooding in the Perham and Barnesville area, with flooded fields and ditches around Wadena, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are reminded to, 'Turn around, don't drown.' Travelers should be aware of ponding on roadways and low spots, and should avoid driving into areas where water covers the roadway; the water depth may be too great to allow a vehicle to cross safely.

Later today, the weather service states, a warm front is expected in north and west central Minnesota. This will cause the atmosphere to get unstable; expect scattered strong or severe thunderstorms to form along and east of a Mahnomen to Detroit Lakes to Fergus Falls line in mid to late afternoon, with large hail and damaging winds the main threat.
