Former LP-A coaches plead not guilty to sex charges
Two former high school girls' basketball coaches at Lake Park-Audubon pleaded not guilty today to charges related to sexual conduct with players.
Andrew Patrick Schwan, 33, Detroit Lakes, and Darrin Alan Myhre, 29, Minot, N.D., are accused in Minnesota's Stearns County District Court of sexually touching two players and offering them alcohol while staying at a hotel for an out-of-town tournament nearly 13 months ago.
Both men are charged with felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct as well as other misdemeanor charges of misconduct by a public employee and furnishing a minor alcohol.
Schwan is also charged with furnishing tobacco to a minor, a misdemeanor.
A jury trial has been scheduled for each man - Aug. 15 for Schwan and Sept. 19 for Myhre.
Both have been released on their own recognizance, and no changes were made to that during Friday's hearing.
The charges stem from a Dec. 28, 2009, incident at a hotel in St. Cloud in which the coaches allegedly fondled two players. A parent reported the allegations to St. Cloud police.
Once the allegations surfaced in February 2010, both men resigned from their teaching and coaching positions.
