Meehl is a first-year player for the Spartans, who defeated Rochester Community and Technical College 3-2 in the first round of Region 13 playoffs on Friday, Oct. 26. In the title match on Saturday, the Spartans rallied to win in five sets over Ridgewater Community College, the reigning national champion and No. 1-ranked team in the nation.

The Ridgewater Warriors were undefeated in Southern Division play this year and in earlier matches defeated M State 3-1 in Willmar and 3-0 on the Spartan home court in Fergus Falls.

Spartan Coach Terri Strom was named Region 13 Coach of the Year. M State's most recent appearance in the national tournament was in 2004.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III tournament is Nov. 9-10 in Rochester.

As a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, M State serves more than 9,200 students in credit courses each year in more than 120 career and liberal arts programs at its four campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena, and through eCampus. By partnering with communities, the college also provides custom training services and other responsive training programs.
