Former West Fargo bus driver again arrested on DUI charge
SABIN, Minn. - A former school bus driver in West Fargo who pleaded guilty in March to being intoxicated as he drove to pick up a group of students has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving again.
Steven C. Sauer, 59, West Fargo, was arrested June 20 after Clay County deputies were called to a home in Sabin on the report of an unwanted man, Sheriff Bill Bergquist said on Monday.
Initial testing showed he had an alleged blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent, Bergquist said. After his arrest, he was taken to the Clay County Jail and later transported to an area hospital, Bergquist said.
Sauer was arrested Feb. 2 after driving a school bus into a snowbank in the 100 block of 32nd Avenue, and a blood test put his BAC at 0.27 percent. He was fired by the contracted bus firm which had employed him, Valley Bus Co.
Sauer pleaded guilty on March 16 in West Fargo Municipal Court and was sentenced to two days in jail already served with another 28 days suspended. He was also ordered to get a substance-abuse evaluation and perform 40 hours of community service.
