Frankie Buttram, 89, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
Frankie was born to Silas and Delphi (Hartman) Dodd on May 15, 1918 in White Rock, S.D. As a young child, she moved with her family to Vergas, and then to Frazee, where she was raised and educated. She married Ed Fogel in 1937. They made their home in Frazee. Frankie moved to Portland, Ore., in 1947, with her sons Don, Richard, Kenneth and Robert. She married Joe Buttram on Oct. 2, 1949 and had two daughters with him, JoAnne and Linda. She stayed home and raised their children.
During their retirement years, Joe and Frankie enjoyed traveling and visiting their children and grandchildren. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 2005. Joe died on March 20, 2007.
Frankie is survived by her sons, Don (Lois) Dodd of Detroit Lakes, Richard "Dick" (Marcina) Fogel of Wallace, Idaho, and Robert "Buck" (Carole) Fogel of Portland, Ore.; daughters, JoAnne Ryan-Wilson of Portland, Ore., and Linda Knopf of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fogel of Portland, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Martha Riggle of Ogema; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Frankie in death were her parents; husband Joe; son, Kenneth Fogel; six brothers, Billy, Clarence, Les, Ross, Vic, Leonard and Clifford Dodd; and three sisters, Doris Wandrie, Hazel Tunner and Marie Manning.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, with visitation to be held for one hour prior to the start of services at Emmanuel. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
