Free Big Band Era dance this Sunday
Viking Library System presents a tribute to the Big Band Era with a free dance featuring the "42nd Street Jazz Band" on Sunday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham. The museum is located at 805 West Main Street.
The dance is a kick-off to a series of programs being planned to pay homage to Minnesota's Greatest Generation, a collaborative effort of Viking Library System, its member libraries, and the Minnesota Historical Society.
Member libraries are hosting over a dozen free programs this fall, from author Dave Kenney, to the music of Prudence Johnson and Dan Chouinard, to bus tours to the Minnesota History Center to view the Minnesota's Greatest Generation exhibit. Additional library programs are already being planned for 2011.

This project is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage.
