Admission is free this year at the East Otter Tail County Fair.
That was the decision by the fair board, as it moves into high gear in planning for the July 23-26 event.
"Free gate is what most of the successful fairs are going to," said Rick Breitenfeldt, fair board member. "This will be better for the vendors and exhibitors. And the carnival company does better, too."
Another advantage to the free gate is that folks can come in, have lunch, and not pay admission every time, noted Breitenfeldt.
A new carnival company has been booked for the East Otter Tail Fair, Family of Fun Shows, out of Mankato.
The two demo derbies and Saturday tractor pull will be paid events, however, added Breitenfeldt.
Parking on the grounds will be $2.
The highly successful tug-of-war event will be expanded this year, with more teams invited and more prizes.
The Scare Crow Creation Contest will again be held.
A DJ, Wylde Nights entertainment, will provide music Friday and Saturday night at the fairgrounds.
