Free jazz concert at ITOW Veterans Museum
On Sunday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m., the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham will host the 42nd Street Jazz Band in 'A Tribute to the Big Band Era.' This free concert is sponsored by the Viking Library System as a kick-off for their tribute to Minnesota's Greatest Generation.
42nd Street Jazz Band, aka Ministry of Jazz, features some of the best jazz musicians in the area. They perform weekly for conventions, dinner parties, holiday parties, wedding dances and as the host band for the Fargo Ramada's Jazz Night at Basie's.
The group includes Kathie Brekke on keyboard and vocals; Harley Sommerfeld on sax, clarinet and flute; Kent Karch on bass; John Pederson on trumpet and flugelhorn; and Joe Riewer on drums.
This project is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage.
