Rural Perham murder: Pipe wrench reportedly used in brutal killing of mother, son

Gary Dean Pederson

Gary Dean Pederson, age 67, passed away on May 23, 2009 at his home in Oylen, MN, with his family. Gary was born on November 19, 1941 to Elmer and Irene (Frame) Pederson in Oylen.

It was in that same area he attended country school near his home. As a young man, Gary helped his parents with their mink farm. He loved to hunt, fish, trapping, and enjoyed music, cards, and games. Gary also enjoyed woodcarving. In Arizona, he loved shuffleboard and playing poker.

Gary was a very giving person, lending a helping hand or sharing his garden joys with the community. He had a great sense of humor, and was the most honest and kind person ever known. For 33 years Gary was married to the love of his life, Judy Ann (Lowe) Pederson. They were best friends and lived as one.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother David. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; son Randy Dean (Kim) Pederson of Anoka; three grandchildren, Brienna, Brennan, and Brittney and one great-granddaughter, McKenna; brothers, Roger (Pat), Raymond (Pat), Glen (Brenda), and Jeff (Kim), all of the Nimrod and Oylen area; sisters, Carol (Chip) McCauley of Glendale, AZ, and Sue Pederson of FL.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m. in the Oylen Alliance Church with Reverend Neal Malcore officiating. Arrangements are with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (
