Girls basketball: Crookston defeats Perham 78-63
Perham Minnesota 222 2nd Avenue SE 56573

CROOKSTON — Four Perham shooters scored in double figures, but were undone by a four-pack of Pirate shooters in a 78-63 Crookston victory in non-conference girls basketball action Friday.

Amy and Tina Scheidecker each scored 13 points to lead the Yellowjackets.

Sydney Boike scored a game-high 25 and Danica Brekken added 17 points to lead the Pirates.

Crookson built a 10-point lead by the break at 41-31 on a three-point basket at the buzzer, and outscored Perham by five in the second half of play.

"Overall, considering we lost to that team by a bunch last year, we were in the game the whole night and had young girls step up and hit big shots," Head Coach TJ Super said. "It was frustrating because we were very, very good in most aspects of the game, but were lacking in just a couple, but you have to put together a complete 36 minutes to beat a team like Crookston."

Analea Erickson scored 12 and Josie Beachy added 11 points for Perham. Amy Scheidecker and Beachy had good shooting nights from three-point range, each making three of five attempts. As a team, Perham was 8-17 from downtown.

Perham shot 52 percent from the field but got the worse end of the referee's whistle. The Pirates took 42 free throws to only 11 for Perham.

Kenzie Klatt and Elisa Samuelson had 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Crookston.

Perham played the game shorthanded without Ella Von Ruden. Von Ruden makes a big difference in games, particularly rebounding. The men in stripes did the rest of the damage sending three Yellowajackets to the bench with five fouls: Tina Scheidecker, Sydney Roberts, and Analea Erickson all fouled out of the game.

Perham falls to .500 at 3-3 overall. Crookston improves to 2-0.

The Yellowjackets return home where they are 2-1 this season Thursday, Dec. 19 to face Crosby-Ironton (2-2).
