Girls Basketball: Miron double-double leads Wolverines past Perham
PERHAM - The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines girls basketball team got off to hot starts in both halves and maintained a double-digit advantage the length of the game in a 52-37 victory over the Yellowjackets Thursday evening.
Emily Miron led all scorers with 12 points and recorded a double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds. Hope Theissen scored 11 points for the visitors.
Analea Erickson led Perham in scoring for the third consecutive game with 10 points. Tina Scheidecker added nine points.
The Wolverines scored the first 10 points in the first half and attacked the floor in similar fashion coming out of the halftime break, already with a 15-point lead.
Turnovers were key in the game. The Yellowjackets committed 19, while the Wolverines gave the ball up only seven times. Both teams struggled at the free throw line. W-DC shot 1-7. Perham was 4-10.
The loss is the third straight to start the season for Perham (0-1, 0-3). The Wolverines even their record at 2-2.
Perham travels to Breckenridge (1-0, 1-1) tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, in a Heart O' Lakes Conference match-up.
