Sept. 15, 1928-May 3, 2008
Gladys Lavonne Klicker, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Gladys was born to Frank and Ella (Jastram) Klicker on Sept. 15, 1928 in Traverse County, Minn. She lived her entire life in Minnesota. In 1936, Gladys was injured in an accident, leaving her with a handicapped left side. This didn't hinder her in being a wonderful caregiver. She spent many years caring for children and the elderly. After she moved into the Lamplighter Manor Apartments in Detroit Lakes, she was extremely proud of being a member of the Senior Companions and enjoyed helping where she could. She also enjoyed being a member of the musical group "The Ding-a-Lings." She was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Gladys will be remembered and missed by her brother, Donald (Ruth) Klicker of Wheaton, Minn.; and two sisters, Hazel (Wayne) Swanson of Spokane, Wash., and Judy (Cal) Anderson of Sun City Ariz.; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Preceding Gladys in death were her parents; brothers Ervin and Marvin; and one sister, Evelyn.
The family of Gladys Klicker would like to personally thank the staff at Emmanuel Nursing Home for the loving care they showed Gladys in making her feel so comfortable; as well as Dr. Anita Jonason, for all the care and treatment she provided.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Interment is at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.
