Go-Getters have ‘best year ever’ at Walk MS
The Perham Go-Getters had their “best year ever” at the local 2014 Walk MS, raising record-high donations of over $9,700.
The walk was held at the M State campus in Fergus Falls on May 4.
According to a press release, the Go-Getters raised enough to be one of the top performing teams at this year’s walk – if not the top, once all remaining donations are collected.
The team was one of the largest, with 32 participants out of a total 200 at the walk. It also had two of the youngest team members there, with five-month-old twins taking part.
“It was a great day, a good time for connecting up with family and friends as we worked together to stop Multiple Sclerosis,” said Go-Getters team co-captains, Mary Chase and Colleen Sazama, in the release.
Money raised at the one-mile outdoor walk will support programs and services for more than 17,000 individuals with MS and their families in the Upper Midwest area. It will also fund research that seeks to stop MS in its tracks and create a world free of the disease.
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National MS Society supports local self-help/care partner groups and numerous other services. Those groups provide resources and navigators to help individuals and their families with the financial, emotional and physical issues that can be encountered with MS.
“The ‘thanks’ for the Go-Getters’ success goes out to the many individuals, community groups and businesses who contributed, along with the walkers and volunteers,” stated Chase and Sazama.
