Go-Getters raise $8,000 at Walk MS
Once again the Perham “Go-Getters” represented the community with style at the area Walk MS. This year’s walk was held May 5 at the M State Community College in Fergus Falls.
Walkers and volunteers came together with a single goal of stomping out Multiple Sclerosis.
Walkers could choose the quarter-mile laps indoors or one-mile laps outdoors. More than 100 walkers raised nearly $30,000.
Money raised will support programs and services for more than 17,000 people with MS and their families in the Upper Midwest Chapter area and will fund cutting-edge research to stop the disease in its tracks, restore lost function and create a world free of MS.
“It was a wonderful event; a great time for socializing and sharing as we worked together to hopefully find a cause and a cure for Multiple Sclerosis,” said the Go-Getters Team Co-Captains, Mary Chase and Colleen Sazama.
The Go-Getters once again took the honors of being one of the largest teams in Fergus Falls, with 26 walkers, while raising a dollar figure of more than $8,000.
“This will place us as one of the top fundraising teams at the Fergus walk, if not the top,” stated Chase and Sazama.
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National MS Society supports the area self-help/caregivers groups, water aerobics program, chair exercise program and gentle yoga program at the area community center along with numerous other services.
The chapter also provides resources and navigators to help with financial, emotional and physical issues having to do with Multiple Sclerosis.
“Thanks for the Go-Getters’ success goes out to the many individuals, community groups and businesses who contributed, along with the walkers and volunteers, for helping us with another successful year,” said Chase and Sazama.
