A police officer's report says Jason William Lyons was arrested at the apartment Saturday, and paramedics took the two women to the Altru Hospital emergency room. On Monday, a nursing supervisor said both women had been discharged from the hospital.

Prosecutor Meredith Larson said, as far as she knows, the women and the 6-month-old fetus are OK, but she has not obtained their medical records.

The officer's report says the mother of the pregnant woman had a lump on the right side of her forehead and other visible injuries. Police took photographs of her injuries, the report says. Both women told police Lyons assaulted them.

Larson said Lyons was, at some point, in a relationship with the mother of the pregnant woman.

For allegedly attacking the pregnant woman, Lyons is charged with simple assault, a Class B misdemeanor. In the altercation with the woman's mother, he's charged with aggravated assault, a Class C felony. Depending on what information the medical records reveal, Larson said, the charges could change.

Lyons also faces a criminal mischief charge that stems from a Nov. 16 report that he caused more than $100 in damage to a door at the same apartment, court documents state.

Lyons' bail was set at $21,000 during his jail appearance Monday. He has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 6.

A message left for him at the Grand Forks County jail was not returned Monday.
