Grand Forks' "Smiley" water tower to be demolished Wednesday
GRAND FORKS -- The city of Grand Forks will begin to dismantle the "Smiley" water tower near the intersection of DeMers Avenue and North Washington Street on Wednesday.
Crews will start at the top of the water tower and work their way down. They'll use torches to cut the structure apart, and a crane will lower the pieces to the ground. The work is expected to take two days to complete.
The work was delayed last week because of high winds. Traffic will not be affected while the tower is dismantled.
