Grunewald running in fifth American League race June 6
Minneapolis/St. Paul – June 3, 2014 — Team USA Minnesota distance runners will compete this week at three different track meets on June 5 and 6, including at the Nike Festival of Miles in St. Louis, the Hoka One One Adrian Martinez Classic in Concord, Mass., and at the American Track League meet in Houston
On June 6, Gabriele Grunewald will be in Houston for the fifth meet in the American Track League series. She will compete in the 1000 meters. Grunewald has a best in the 800 of 2:01.38 and in the 1500 of 4:01.48.
At the Festival of Miles on June 5, Heather Kampf will compete in the women’s elite 800 meter race. The meet’s two-time champion at this distance, Kampf has a best of 2:00.04 in the 800m. Most recently she competed in the Prefontaine Classic 800m on May 30 and finished fourth with a time of 2:00.65
Travis Burkstrand will also be in St. Louis and will line up in the men’s elite mile. Burkstrand has a best of 4:00.15 in the distance, which he set on the indoor track in January. The races will be held in the evening, with the 800m at 8:20 and the mile at 8:55 (Central time).
Jon Peterson and Eric Finan will travel to the East Coast where they will compete in the men’s mile at the Adrian Martinez Classic on June 5 in Concord. Now in its sixth year, the meet features a series of middle distance races. Peterson has a best of 3:42.78 in the 1500m and Finan has posted 4:04.94 in the mile.
Ben Sathre was fourth in the Dam to Dam Half Marathon in Des Moines on May 31. His time on the hot and humid day was 1:07:47. Next up for Sathre will be the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth on June 21.
