Guardian Crop makes holiday move to new building in Perham
After 13 years in Perham and 18 years in the business, Guardian Crop Insurance owner Denise Kane decided it was time to give herself a Christmas present: A brand new building.
It was the day after Christmas that Guardian relocated from the Blue Sky complex to its brand new building, west of the Dairy Queen.
"We added an employee, and we decided this was the opportunity to expand," said Kane, a farmgirl and Henning graduate with math and business degrees from St,. Benedict's.
The 2,000 square foot building is roomy, but Kane anticipates "growing into" the facility.
Guardian services more than 500 clients, as well as 16 independent agents who sell crop insurance in about a 100 mile radius of Perham.
Crop insurance is a matter of course in modern farming.
"Farming is a risk business," said Kane. "With the increased cost of doing business, insurance is something that becomes part of the farm business plan.
There are two employees at the Guardian office: Marilyn Bolland, Ottertail, and Nancy Bachmann, Frazee.
Denise and husband Russ live near New York Mills with their three daughters, Kristin, Madison and Kaitlyn.
