Harold Walter Wallace, 98, lifelong resident of Vergas, passed away March 21 at the Frazee Care Center, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Harold was born Nov. 13, 1914, to John and Ella (Lund) Wallace in Candor Township, Otter Tail County. Harold was baptized Nov. 6, 1915, at First Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes. He was confirmed in faith on Dec. 16, 1948, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake, by the Reverend Theodore Schauland. He attended country school at District 121 in Candor Town-ship through the eighth grade.

Harold married Iota Olive Lewis on Oct. 17, 1938, in Fergus Falls. A son, Walter was born to the couple. Iota passed away Nov. 14, 1984. He married Dorothy (Ulrich) Carlson on Sept. 19, 1987. She passed away June 16, 1990.

Harold farmed in the Vergas area, eventually selling the family farm to his son, Walter. In 1980, he moved into Vergas. He continued to do field work on the farm for many years. He belonged to the Lake Sybil Rod & Gun Club and the Vergas Lions Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake. He loved to dance, and attended many dances in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also liked cutting grass, driving the tractor, snowmobiling, and woodworking in the shop.

Harold was a kind man who was a blessing to many. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Walter (Diana) of Vergas; three grandchildren, Jim (Teresa) of Vergas, Deborah (Bob) Fettig at Barnesville, Minn., and Nancy (Scott) Benke of Dent; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 12 stepchildren, JoLeen (Dale) Kruger of Osage, Minn., Deanna (Richard) Noel of Frazee, Minn., Connie (Ron) Baumgart of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sheri (Doug) Leitheiser of Rochert, Minn., Cari (Mike) Evavold of Dalton, Minn., Carlee (Scott) Frey of Detroit Lakes, Cally (Darby) Nundahl of Frazee, Myron (Judy) Guhlke of Osakis, Minn., Jay Guhlke of Colorado Springs, Lynnae (Robin) Guhlke of Lake Crystal, Minn., Scott (Pam) Guhlke of Moorhead, Minn., and Lee (Kristina) Carlson of Park Rapids, Minn.; along with many step- grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and good friend, Audrey Clementson of Eagle Bend, Minn.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iota; his second wife, Dorothy; four brothers, Robert, William, Ernist and War-ren Wallace; two sisters, Bessie Wilke and Mary Fingalson; great-great-grandson, Brayden Kamphuis; and stepdaughter, Arla Sunram.

Funeral services were held March 25 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Township Ceme-tery at a later date. To leave online condolences, visit
