Hawley girls clinch HOL basketball title


GLYNDON, Minn. – Mira Ellefson scored 21 points as Hawley defeated Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 65-49 in Heart O’ Lakes Conference girls basketball Friday.


The victory clinches the Heart O' Lakes Conference title for the Nuggets, their fifth straight. Hawley won 10 of 12 HOL games finishing a game ahead of Pelican Rapids (9-3) and two up on Barnesville (8-4).

Alyson Brenna led the Rebels with 14 points.

Barnesville defeated Hawley 50-46 Dec. 6. The Nuggets' only other conference loss was to Pelican Rapids 59-37 Jan. 14, both at home.

Hawley (18-6) finished the regular season on a 12-game win streak stretching back to Jan. 23.

The Hawley boys also clinched the HOL basketball title, sharing it with Perham.
