Healing for the holidays: Church service to address common Christmas hardships
Struggling to find the joy of Christmas? Hard to think of holiday festivities? The holiday season is a difficult time of year for some people, bringing on feelings of sadness, loneliness, grief and despair.
To recognize these relatively common and difficult feelings, Pastor Jerry Bass will be holding a special service at the Perham United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Called “Healing for the Holidays,” the service will focus on the reality of “blue Christmases” as Bass encourages the spiritual and emotional shift that comes with inviting the Christ Child once again into our lives.
Through scripture, music and message, he will seek to strengthen all who are finding difficulty at this time of year and to bring a greater realization of and openness to God’s Advent gifts of hope, love, joy and peace.
