A spring variety show by the Heart O’ Lakes Harmony Men’s Chorus will be presented at the Kennedy School Auditorium in Fergus Falls on Friday, April 12, and again at the Holmes Theater in Detroit Lakes on Saturday, April 13. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“The Cotton Club (Where Mob Families Meet)” will be the theme of the show. An a cappella chorus and quartets will offer lively vocal renditions of music reminiscent of the roaring ‘20s.
A cast will spice up the show with comic overtones from the mob scene that was part of the prohibition era.
Featured acts will include a presentation of soothing mellow music in the style of Nat King Cole by Fergus Falls singer Jerry Covington; the distinctive sounds of Kathy Brekke’s famous 42nd Street Jazz Band; and the unique dancing style of the Runestone Rockettes from Alexandria, Minn., performing dance routines common to the 1920s era.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at Victor Lundeen Company in Fergus Falls, at the Holmes Theater ticket office in Detroit Lakes or by calling 218-862-5300. They will also be available at the door on the day of the show.
There is a cost to attend; children under 12 get in for free.
