Honey Bee Gala fundraiser set for April 12
What’s the buzz? This tme of year, it’s the 549 Family Foundation’s Honey Bee Gala.
“The gala is a celebration of community members, teachers, students, and volunteers that are working to keep Perham schools buzzing,” said organizer Tammy Sturdevant in an email to the Focus. “It is also the organization’s main fundraiser for the year.”
The gala will be on Saturday, April 12 at Wild Oaks at Perham Lakeside Golf Club. The event’s theme will be “black and gold galore.”
A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment and auctions (live and silent).
Auction items will include Major League Baseball All-Star tickets, Harmon Killebrew Hospice Event tickets (with time on the field during warm-up), a teacher-sponsored progressive dinner and signed memorabilia.
Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m., and the event’s award program will kick off at 7.
Awards will be presented to six students and three volunteers. Shawn Stafki, Perham’s teacher of the year, will also be recognized.
Through the community’s support of the foundation, over $600,000 in grants have been awarded to the Perham-Dent School District since the foundation’s creation in 2002.
These grants supported programs such as the bike build and robotics, and provided computer software and choir travel funding.
Tickets are $25 and are available at any of the school offices as well as at the Wild Goose and Goose Gang.
