History, Heritage and Heroes is the theme of the summer event series being presented at the ITOW Veterans Museum this season.
On July 11 at 7 p.m., Elisa Korenne will present "Oy Vey is Jewish for Uff-da," her new show of songs and stories about little known Jewish immigrants who settled in the Upper Midwest. Following the tradition of her earlier production, Minnesota's Ordinarily Unsung, this newest piece includes original song-portraits and fascinating true stories along with explanations about Jewish culture. Thanks to Legacy funding and support from the Minnesota Jewish Arts Council, this performance is free and open to the public.
July 25 - 7 p.m. "Hephzibeth." A one-woman dramatic presentation by Lauren Nickisch about the life of a northern Minnesota pioneer woman.
August 8 - 7 p.m. "They Were Ready." Terry Shoptaugh will give a presentation about his latest book about the National Guard.
August 15 - 7 p.m. "Keeping Watch." Kathy Sletto will talk about her new book and life as a shepherdess.
Museum hours: Monday-Saturday 10-5; Sunday 1-4. For more information, call 218-346-7678 or visit www. ITOWmuseum.org.
