Speicher’s record time was 4:27.00. Billy Beseman finished as runner-up in 4:44.27 and Chris Knutson added a sixth place finish continuing Perham’s dominance in distant runs.

“Great way to end my senior regular season,”, Speicher posted to Twitter after the race.

The girls went one better sweeping the top three spots in their 1600. Brynnan Covington won the 1600 in 5:37.01. Sydney Karels (5:47.29) and Ciarrin Covington, Ciarrin (5:54.19) completed the trio.

More of the same in the boys 800m run. Keeghan Hurley (2:04.87), Speicher (2:06.89) and Beseman (2:13.30) finished as a team atop the race standings.

Pelican Rapids’ Cody Bekkerus was the only racer ahead of another trio of Jackets in the boys 3200m run. That trio was made up of more of the national cross country champion team. Jayden Cullen led the way finishing second (10:27.70) to Bekkerus’ winning time of 10:00.68. Nick Carignan (10:36.54) and Ben Sullivan (10:38.39) were third and fourth.

“The boys and girls teams had some off-the-charts performances and really sacrificed and pulled together as a team,” Head Coach Mike Peterson said. “We all enjoyed the entire meet, as it was very intense the entire time. What a great group of students.”

The boys team added two more event victories. The 4x800m relay team won their race with plenty of time to spare. Perham’s time of 8:58.79 was the only team time clocked less than nine minutes and more than 18 seconds in front of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in second (9:17.08).

Senior Mark Huebsch, yet another XC champion runner, defeated Barnesville’s Isaac Goedtke at the tape in a photo finish. Huebsch’s winning time was 43.78, one-one-hundredth of a second faster than Goedtke’s 43.79.

“A senior year conference win is a great feeling,” Huebsch posted on Twitter post-race.

The girls team ended the day with eight victories, nearly half of the 19 run on the day.

Brynnan Covington accounted for a pair taking the 800m and 1600m. Lizzie Fudge won the 3200m run in 12:44.74, 10 seconds ahead of D-G-F’s Bailey Narem.

Natalie Murphy and Olivia Nelson continued to finish in top spots in HOL Conference hurdles races. Murphy won the 100m hurdles in 17.07. Nelson won the 300m hurdles in 49.99.

The 4x400m relay team nipped Pelican Rapids for the title. Perham recorded a time of 4:28.66; Pelican 4:29.44. The 4x800m relay team finished in first place comfortably (10:48.28) ahead of Barnesville (11:09.33).

Miranda Lockhart had a 10-foot cushion in winning the discus with a throw of 110-07. Barnesville’s Alissa Bentley was runner-up with a throw of 100-10. Lockhart also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 31-06.00. D-G-F’s Mandy Mercil won the shot at 39-01.75.
