Jackets improve to 12-4 with home triangular sweep

PERHAM — The No. 9AA Perham Yellowjackets swept a home triangular Tuesday with a pair of blowouts 69-4 over Breckenridge and 58-15 over Pelican Rapids.

Breckenridge forfeited eight matches leaving little in the way of competition in the opening match.

Perham got pins from: Tyler Fudge at 132 over Tony Emerfoll at 1:37; Austen Shultz at 152 over Devin Larson at 2:59; Cole Schmitz at 170 over Austin Snyder-Lehn at 2:22; Mark Swanson at 195 over Zach Hasse at 32 seconds and heavyweight Jesse Bucholz pinned Joe Schultz at 14 seconds to finish off the Cowboys.

Perham’s lone decision came from Patrick Glynn, who controlled the match with Travis Marinowski throughout in a 14-7 victory.

Breckenridge scored their only points of the match from an 11-3 major decision by No. 7A Conrad Kondos over Chase Curtis.

Pelican Rapids jumped out to a 9-0 lead on a major decision 15-6 by Jason Meyer over Dylan Fudge at 106 and a tech fall victory at 4:26 by Daniel Franco over Patrick Johnson at 113.

Curtis got Perham on the board with a quick 24-second pin of Alejandro Romero at 126 and the teams flip-flopped on the scoreboard in the two matches to come.

Perham took its first lead at 12-9 on a Sam Pirrotta pin over Dakota Pixely at 1:16 in the 132-pound match.

Robert Mazorlegos pinned Fudge at 138 in 4:28 in the 138-pound match to put the Vikings back in the lead 15-12.

Pelican Rapids would not score the rest of the match.

Dylan Perrine and Colin Neitzke had back-to-back pins at 145 and 152. Schultz picked up his second win of the day on a 15-2 major over Alex Diaz at 160.

Glynn, Jesse Klatt and Trent Jahnke received forfeits at 170, 195 and 220, respectively.

No. 9AA William Parks pinned Nick Thompson at 2:35 in the 182-pound match and Bucholz registered his second pin of the night sticking Eddie Ramos at 2:54.

Perham (12-4) will face New York Mills (7-2) on the road Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles have dropped two straight duals after winning their first seven to start the season. Breckenridge falls to 0-6 on the year, while Pelican Rapids’ record was evened by the loss at 6-6.
