Jackets take eight matches at conference tennis meet

Somehow, the Mid-State conference tennis tournament was played in moist conditions Friday. Perham finished in fourth place with eight points.

Points are awarded for each win in the round-robin competition.

Getting wins for the Yellowjackets were: Mike Buer, at number one singles, defeating Taylor Garcia, of W-DC 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3; Dylan Ashcraft, number two singles, 6-7, 6-3 over W-DC's Zach Norenberg; Jordan Cresap, number three singles, 6-3, 6-4 over W-DC's Drew Larson and 6-2, 6-2 over Kevin Merfeld of Park Rapids; Scott Eickschen won two matches at number four singles 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 7-5 over Mark Bravo, Park Rapids and Kevin Jensen, W-DC, respectively.

In doubles play, Trevor Meece and Brenden Lauer defeated Matt Green and Elijah Anderson of W-DC 6-3, 6-2. The number three doubles team of sophomores Chad Hofland and Madison Paridon beat Josh Lund and Aaron Karlson of W-DC two and two.

Detroit Lakes 23, Staples-Motley 23, Park Rapids 14, Perham 8, Wadena-Deer Creek 2.
