DETROIT LAKES — The Pehram girls’ swim team placed third in the Mid State Conference meet Friday evening.

Park Rapids Area won the conference title.

Jackie Hanson earned all-conference honors with a first place swim in the 200-freestyle in a time of 2:09.51. Hanson was also a part of an all-conference 400-freestyle relay team.

Hanson (1:00.80), Anna Dale (1:01.51), Finnja Becker (59.82) and anchor Natalie Murphy (56.16) swam a combined time of 3:58.29 to win the event as the only team to cut the four-minute mark. Staples-Motley’s relay team of Jennessa Iverson, Jaelin Beachy, Kali Klimek and Kylie Bendson swam 4:01.00 to finish runners-up.

Hanson added a third place finish in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:17.24. Park Rapids Area’s Kayla Andersen won the event in 1:15.73.

Murphy earned All Conference Honorable Mention for runner-up finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Murphy swam 25.92 in the 50-free, second to Staples-Motley’s Jaelin Beachy (25.23). Beachy was 11th in the state last season in the 50-freestyle.

The results were similar in the 100-free. Beachy swam 55.22 to win and Murphy was runner-up in 56.58.

Finnja Becker earned Honorable mention with runner-up finishes in the 200-freestyle and 100-backstroke. Becker swam 2:11.99 in the 200-free finishing behind teammate Hanson. In the backstroke, Becker’s time of 1:05.65 was only bested by Grace Livermore of Detroit Lakes (1:05.50).

Hannah Brady placed fourth in diving and broke the school record for 11 dives with score of 342.55.

Sierra Lynne also broke the previous record with a score of 305.95 finishing sixth overall.

Justice Aus and Tara Wenaas qualified for Sections in 200 IM with times of 2:47.96 and 3:00.42 respectively. Aus finished in 11th place. Wenaas was seventh. Wenaas also qualified with an eighth-place 100-breaststroke time of 1:27.90.

Megan Tellinghuisen had section qualifying times in the 50 (28.40-seventh place) and 100-freestyle (1:04.34-seventh place).
