Jean Harney featured at the Perham library
During the month of July, Jean Harney will be the featured artist in the meeting room of the Perham Area Public Library.
Harney is a lifelong summer resident of Camp Nidaros on Ottertail Lake. She has been actively involved in the arts in the area for many years - being an active member and participant of the Art of the Lakes organization in Battle Lake, exhibiting at the Phelps Mill Festival for 24 years, participating in the Artists Studio Tour each July, and the Battle Lake Crafts Fair in August. Her work may also be seen at Main Frames Gallery on Main Street in Perham.
Harney has used local subject matter as inspiration for much of her work, which includes old local landmarks, whimsical paintings of beach scenes, fishing, boating and other lake activities. She works in the watercolor medium.
For many summers she has done commissions for people of their summer homes and/or beach scenes. Because of living in Arizona part of the year, bright colors are a strong point with her, as are good design and a sense of humor. Her exhibit may be seen at the library throughout the month of July during the library's open hours.
