Josephine E. Kirk, 95, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.
Josephine Pavlick was born to John and Anna (Cimballa) Pavlick on Sept. 5, 1912 in South Chicago, Ill. She grew up in Gary, Ind., where she graduated from Horseman High School. Josephine married Harold Kirk, and they made their home in Gary until moving to Danville, Ill., and later Hot Springs, Ariz., where they operated lounges. They retired and moved to Barefoot Bay, Fla., where they enjoyed their retirement.
After Harold's passing, Josephine moved to Detroit Lakes to be closer to her sister, Alice Zaranka, who preceded her in death in 2007. Alice and Josephine spent their latter years living together and going to local events, visiting with friends and going to bingo whenever they were able.
Josephine will be remembered and missed by her sister, Helen Reid of Lees Summit, Mo., along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She is also survived by many dear friends including Al (Jean) Brevik, Duey (Bonnie) Miller, Darlene and Dwayne Strom, and Debbie and Char.
Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24 until the time of services at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled to begin at 12 noon Saturday in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Bob LaPlante officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is assisting the family with arrangements.
