Julie Cooper, 99 years, 6 months, and 10 days died on June 10 after a brief illness. A memorial service has been held.
Julie was born on Nov. 17, 1913 in Stillwater, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Mary Hittle. She graduated from Mora High School before earning a teacher's certificate from St. Cloud State Teacher's College. She attained her bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
Julie served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in Washington D.C. as a decoder. She and Merle lived in various places including South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, and Texas. Julie retired from elementary education in Silver Bay, Minn. in 1975. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent.
Preceding Julie in death are her parents; her husband, Merle; daughter, Jackie Pherson; brother, Alexander; and sister, Elizabeth Burnett.
Surviving Julie are her three daughters, Mary (Fred) Bauck; Barb (Eddie) Zappa and Kitty (Chip) Ennenga; granddaughter, Jenny (Kenny) Williams; and three great-grandchildren.
