The 1998 Ford Explorer was entering westbound I-94 from South University Drive when the driver reached to grab a piece of paper from the dashboard to help defrost the windshield, Trooper Mike Polomny said.

The SUV veered into the grassy area where the on-ramp meets the driving lane. The driver, a student at Fargo Shanley, overcorrected, and the SUV rolled on its side, coming to rest in the passing lane on its passenger side, Polomny said.

The two boys, whose names were not immediately released, were taken to Innovis Hospital for non-serious injuries, Polomny said, noting both were buckled up.

The driver was cited for care required, he said.

The accident was reported at 7:32 a.m., during the morning rush hour.

"They're pretty fortunate they didn't hit another car," Polomny said.

The accident backed up westbound I-94 traffic past Eighth Street South in Moorhead.
