Karkela receives lawyer honor
The American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) recently announced that Terry Karkela of Perham was admitted to their organization.
According to the organization's website, the ACREL is "the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Admission is by invitation only after a rigorous screening process."
Nomination to ACREL is initiated by current members.
Nationally, the organization has less than 1,000 members. Only 31 lawyers in Minnesota are involved, with only three of them practicing law outside of the metro area.
Karkela said he was surprised and honored to learn about his admission to ACREL.
"I didn't know this was going on until I was elected," he said.
Karkela was also named a 'Super Lawyer' for the third year in a row by Super Lawyer Magazine. The magazine names attorneys in each state who receive the highest point totals, as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics.
A Sebeka High School graduate, Karkela served as mayor of Perham, as well as chairman of the Economic Development Authority, and Chairman of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. He has also served as chairman and a member on numerous other community boards, committees, and organizations.
His office is located at 405 West Main Street in Perham.
