Not many people know that April is National Volunteering Month. This is a great time to review all the mentoring opportunities in the Perham area and get involved.
Where to start?
First ask yourself, “What is my passion? How much time do I have to give? One or two hours a week? One or two hours a month? Seasonal?” Be realistic.
Where to go to get started?
How about Kinship of the Perham area? Mentor a child individually or in a group, help with office work, Coats for Kids and Stuff the Bus, or join the fund raising committee.
Other volunteer opportunities include: churches, local service groups such as Rotary and Lions, Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Perham Health and Perham Living, local food shelves, libraries, schools, Perham Re-Use-It Thrift Store and animal shelters.
Volunteering not only benefits the community but also gives the volunteers a chance to meet new friends and get connected.
