Kristie L. Wesley, 57, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
Kristie Lynn Collman was born to Swante and Helen (Westgard) Collman on Nov. 7, 1950 in Detroit Lakes. She was raised in Richwood Township and attended elementary school in Callaway. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1968. After high school she attended Detroit Lakes Technical College.
Kristie then worked in Minneapolis for a year, before moving back to Detroit Lakes. She met the love of her life, John Wesley, and they were married on Feb. 13, 1971 at Lund Lutheran Church. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where they raised their two children. Kristie worked at Becker County Human Services for 22 years as a financial worker, until November 2007, when she left due to health.
Kristie was a active member of Bakke Lutheran Church and president of WELCA. She enjoyed fishing, baking, cleaning and watching the Minnesota Twins. Kristie was very family-oriented, she enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving Kristie are her husband, John; daughter, Michon (Tom) Koppe of Detroit Lakes; son, Michael (Addie) Wesley of Moorhead; four grandchildren; sister, Connie Bergren of Lake Park; brother, Carl Collman of Mesa, Ariz.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Beatrice Wesley of Detroit Lakes; brother-in-law, Tom Bergren of Lake Park; sisters-in-law, Debra Joy-Collman of Mesa, Ariz., and Marge (Chuck) Saunders of Coon Rapids, Minn.; an uncle; two nieces; five nephews; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Kristie's parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes. Interment will follow at Bakke Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.
Visitation is Sunday, May 4 from 5-8 p.m. at West-Kjos Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
